Applications of BBa_K1733002

PYL is a protein domain that dimerizes with the ABI protein domain in the presence of an inducer, abscisic acid. We took advantage of this dimerization in our project. We fused ABI to half of the protein, and fused PYL to the other half of the protein. We then added abscisic acid into the system so that the domains dimerize to create a PYL-ABA-ABI complex. This also causes the protein halves to dimerize, and in this way, we can conditionally dimerize any protein in order to create inducible control of its activity

This system can also be used with other proteins. Fusing the PYL-ABI domains to halves of protein can lead to control of the protein's activity. This system would be induced by ABA to regain full protein activity.
